ESTRANGED FATHERS
Today in many households fathers are present but not involved in the day to day lives of their children. Sad but true they are not a spiritual witness, mothers are left with all the responsibility of disciplines and providing support. There are abuse, neglect, discouragement and abandonment.
There is the father that makes the promises that has not been kept. Unresolved issues and conflicts, lack of social or other engagements, failure to accept or support- these and other issues crown the homes of many homes including Christian homes.
Regardless of the circumstances and the lack of your husband ability to lead, direct, instruct and or mentor as a father, he must be given the respect that is due him by you and the children.... Let's pray!
TODAY'S PRAYER - (Revive Your Heart by Nancy Leigh DeMoss)
Pray that your husband will be a good father—disciplining his children wisely and loving them unconditionally. If he is not a father, pray that he will find a young man to mentor in the things of the Lord. (Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21; 2 Tim. 2:1-2)
If your husband does not have children of his own encourage him to be a good mentor sharing his experience with other young men.
2 Timothy 2:1-2 (KJV)
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
TODAY'S FOCUS: REVERSE ROLE
Sometimes the way to improve a situation is to reverse the role. Even if you are struggling and challenged- Overcome evil with good. Encourage your children to do good and right to their father. Let's look at some of your and or the children behavior.....
Have you been encouraging them to react negatively?
Is it an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth mentality at your house?
He is not a good provider so the children does not respect him?
How have you been speaking to them or to others about him?
Are you encouraging discipline?
Are you undermining him in front of the children?
When he gives an order in the Lord do you or the children follow?
Is he showed love, affection or appreciation?
Is he taken for granted?
Is he considered a bank or an only when I need you dad?
Is he criticized or mocked for things he can't or unable to do?
Is he praised often and in public?
Are you and the children embarrassed of him and displays that openly?
Is he respected as the priest and head of the home?
ACTIVITY:
It may be difficult keeping quiet when you see that your husband is not playing the father role and taking on his responsibility. Perhaps he is not guilty or identified with any of the examples above, but you wish he could do more and be more involved especially spiritually. Today encourage the children to do something special.
Father's Day has passed, but in order to achieve this victory after you have prayed, get the children engaged with today's challenge.
Solicit some suggestions from them on what they can do to make today special for their father. You will be amazed at what they may come up with. It does not have to be expensive or cost money, but you can use somethings in the house or their creativity. Here are a few suggestions:
They can greet him at the door with a special song, dance or welcome Perform one of his chores
Make a card or poem
Send a text or a special unexpected phone call
Have them make dinner, eat with him and ask him to share his day
Have a nutritious drink set up next to his favorite chair so he can relax when he comes home
Other..... Be creative, genuine and fun
If your children are discouraged, help them build back their trust in their fathers by encouraging them to pray the scriptures into the lives of their father. Begin by speaking positive affirmation to him. Let them hear you compliment him (genuinely) about the things he is good at. Teach them to respect and honor and pray for their father. Having them on board will strengthen your support and with God's help restore him as a father.
Remember, your reaction should not be as a result of his action. As the Proverbs 31 woman you will seek to speak well of him within the gates, and even if he is not what he should be he will not be evil spoken of by others. Do not encourage the children or others to belittle him, but pray the solution to your situation with praise and thanksgiving for a father outlined in the scriptures. God your Heavenly Father will not hold back the things you ask so keep praying and remain faithful because you serve a faithful God.

Make it a Dad we love you- Dad and His Children day!
All for a better relationship and an exciting life! #twigs30dayshusbandchallenge-
Wow, yesterday dad came home a little earlier than usual, so today Thursday, I've simple decided to let the children in on this exciting challenge. This morning I told the older children that today we are going to pray for daddy as soon as he comes home. I know he will be wondering what in the world is going on. However, prayer is something we implement as a family on a regular basis. Today as he comes home we will form a circle around him and pray individually for him.His health, strength, his covering, etc. I am really loving this 30 day challenge. Keep up the good work pastor J Rhymer. You rock!
