THERE'S GOT TO BE MORE!

Are you Soaking WET or DRY?

I too can relate to Joanna Weaver's story of being spiritually dry - "DRY-bone DRY!!!
Those hula hoops keeps us preoccupied even in our prayer time.  As J. Sidlow Baxter describes his battle to reestablish his regular devotional time, I saw myself revealed.

We struggle with our will and the will to spend time with God, but consistency and pressing despite our emotions will allow us to come together.

IT MUST BE AN ACT OF THE WILL.  God will not force himself on us, he wants us to come willingly and freely to be taught and nurtured by Him.

THERE'S GOT TO BE MORE! - DO YOU WANT MORE?

How hungry you are for God will determine how much time you will put into spending time with Him.  If you are hungry you will do anything and everything to be filled.  There is also the assurance of the word that says, Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.

Today's Focus:  Make a plan to set aside time for God!

  • Get yourself a note book and a pen
  • Find a quiet place where you can have your thoughts all to yourself without distraction
  • Write out your daily routine and activities
  • Deliberately mark out time with God first thing in the morning
  • Map out some spots of alone/quiet time throughout your schedule
  • Spend some uninterrupted evening time with Him
I know this is going to be difficult at first, but you are not alone.  I still struggle with correcting and adjusting my time with Him.  I  have started again and I am really enjoying it.  I still have dry periods but I remain consistent, and I see the blessings and fruits of being faithful.

Please let me know how this has helped you by commenting on this page.
I love you and want you to join me on this journey to become more intimate in our relationship with God and enjoy a more abundant life.

God bless - Keep the Faith!

  1. Bless the Lord Pastor Rhymer. My struggle is at night before going to bed. I talk with my Daddy first thing in the morning as my eyes open, no problem there. However, after a long hard working day, I come home to house work and other fixing up to finish the day, and then, tiredness sets in. I sometime have to muster strength to fall on my knees, much less to remain awake in prayer.

I have come to realize, that the reward does not come without struggle, perseverance, and commitment. So I begin again. Daddy knows our heart and He will reward our efforts.

  2. Great Point MEJ. I too sometimes have the evening struggling. One of the things I find myself going around in circles prayer. But consistency makes it better. I am getting better at it.

What helps also is separating your devotion. What I have done is make my reading earlier and keep study for evening. So break it up and don't forget to take breaks with Daddy just to say Hi or to hear from Him.
