A CALL OF SURRENDER
Mourning was an important and sacred duty for the people of the Jewish faith. It was so important that if the deceased did not have enough friends and family to mourn, wailers would be hired to ensure the dead was sent off properly. It was said that the louder the mourning the better.Mary and Martha did not need to hire any because Lazarus was well loved. Family and friends came from near and far to support and be with the sisters in their time of grief. Again we see a replay of a houseful of company when Jesus was coming into Bethany.
BUT THIS TIME IT WAS DIFFERENT! What made it so different?
When someone brought the news that Jesus was near notice... Martha ran out to meet Him.
This time the guest, duties and all other distractions had to come second because she understood that Jesus was and is THE BETTER PART!
When Jesus met her she was remarkably different, her conversation was different to the Martha He met the first time. She was not trying to manipulate or make excuses about her sister, this time Martha was the one searching and surrendering to the Lord. She was truly experiencing Having a Mary's Heart in a Martha's world. This time where was Mary?
GOD'S PLAN IS RELEASED WHEN WE BELIEVE AND OBEY
That's what Martha did. She believed God even when the things He asked seem impractical.
We see that in her statement when Jesus asked to removed the stone. She said to him after four days he stinketh. But when he spoke to her he told her if she could believe she would see the glory of God. They responded by removing the stone. Glory to God and the resurrection power of Jesus went down in history so today we can have Hope. HALLELUJAH!
I wrote in detail today so you can know...
The "end" is never the end; it is only the beginning.
TODAY'S FOCUS: THE THREE DAY PATTERN
As you focus on the following, see it as a template for your suffering, trials or challenges- TRADGEDY
- DARKNESS
- TRIUMPH
Then consider what you are presently facing and use the template to outline your outcome.
God is faithful. Know that though tragedy may come followed by a period of darkness, triumph is waiting for there's victory ahead.
