LIFE STAGES
As human beings we experience different cycles, seasons and life stages. This is for every area in our lives including finances. To build on our theme verse, to nourish and cherish your wife, you must be financially stable.Theme Verse: Ephesians 5:29
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
The area of finance is an area that causes much strain on the relationship. It is an area that must be guarded and taken seriously. How you spend your money and lifestyle preferences are very important to the relationship.
To begin week's 3 challenge, please answer the following:
What are your financial goals for yourself, spouse, children, business, retirement, funeral...?
Do you have savings and investment goals?
Do you have plans to make large purchases? (home/business...)
BIG QUESTION -HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO GET THERE?
Even if your wife is the financial manger, you SHOULD take the responsibility of the finances- at least know about it!
TODAY'S ACTIVITY- IDENTIFY YOUR POSITION
What is your life stage? The chart below used by financial institutions helps you to determine where you should be for your age group.
Life Stages Age Group
Starters Under 25 - Just starting out in life
Builders 25-34 - Building credit/savings...
Establishers 35-44 - Well settled/established
Accumulators 45-54 - Accumulated what you need
Preservers 55+ - Enjoying your wealth/life
(More details will be provided in our weekly life session)
Sadly, many are out of their age group. At the establishers stage most young men are just getting serious about having an account so they can buy a car when they should have been settled. At 55+ some are getting their first mortgage for 30 years. This means they will be 85 when they are finished paying for it. No use crying over spilled milk.
IT'S NEVER TO LATE TO START!!!!
This week will be a great opportunity for you to hear from an expert who has had 30+ years in banking and finance-who is taking the risk to assist you in how to handle the crisis! God also want to be involved in your plan so he can bring your to that desired end.
Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Get yourself a notebook, pen/pencil and a calculator so you can do this week's session.
I will be attaching some forms and you will need to write and get engaged.
Today, you will identify your life stage position and write out your financial goals for every area of your life. Write the vision, make it plain so you everyone can see and follow. Habakkuk 2:2
Let's get educated and help our children to guard their future and help you! Invite your wife and family along if you are married, if you are not invite your girlfriend, fiance, parents.....
Caution: Don't risk your financial future by not having a goal or identifying your life-stage. If you don't have a destination in mind, you're going nowhere!
Remember, MARRIAGE IS A TEAM EFFORT-COMMON PURPOSE!
Don't be discouraged if she doesn't receive it at first or perhaps question your motive. Just do it- Get Close up!
