HEN AND CHICKS
Insert By Jon VanZile explains the succulent Sempervivum plant. They earned their popular name “hen and chicks” from their growth habit. The mother plant, or hen, sends off numerous offsets, which will cluster around her base like chicks.(You can read full details on line for re-potting etc..)
TODAY'S FOCUS: GROWER'S TIPS
Sempervivum are not difficult to grow, provided they are not waterlogged and killed from excess watering. They can be easily grown outdoors and in containers, and they earned the name “houseleeks” from their tendency to root on the roofs of houses. After the mother plant flowers, it will naturally die, but by this time, the plant has likely produced many offsets that will continue to grow.We are like the Sempervivum (Hen and Chicks) plant. As we share God's grace to others our offsets will grow to the next and the next and many generations.
ARE WE FORMING CLOUDS OF WITNESSES IN THIS GENERATION? How?
Today let's discuss...
- Name three (3) people who have shared God's grace with you?
- List some ways you can thank them or Honor their memory
- Can you think of two or three people you can encourage today with the Good News of God's grace?
Remember, God's grace has the ability to reproduce. Let's find a way to do it. Don't over-water but pour out God's love so it can be continual from generation to generation nurturing faith through God's powerful word.
Keep the Faith!
Virtuous Jewel
I made it a point today to thank 3 people today for sharing God's Grace with me. While I was wondering how to do it the Lord brought someone to mind and I posted it on his Facebook timeline. The second person called and called me at her home to bless me with God's grace and I was able to do my thanks in person. The third person called and is very dear to me and shared with me what God is doing for me is His blessings for me in this season and right there I was able to extend my thanks to the Man of God who has blessed us so greatly. God I thank you for allowing me to meet the daily devotion requirement in this area.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we have close family members and neighbors who we have not shared God's grace with. Today I was able to share God's love with my uncle who has been working at our house for the past couple of weeks and has not yet surrendered his heart to God. I chose Him as one of the individuals for the second part of today's devotions because He has had so many challenges in life.
ReplyDeleteI went outside and told him, God loves him and wants to do great things for him. Talk to him about a hair cut and other natural things about himself and then told him my desire for him is to become a complete man of God. He agreed to come to church with me next Saturday. I told him that we will need him to build God's house and his skills can be used for God's glory. He was in total agreement.
Thank You Jesus for saving my uncle. I thank you for him honoring his word for next Saturday. May the impact he receives make a difference and that it will be the beginning of a new life for him. We pray that by his change he will get a release of his curfew and total freedom to retrieve all that he has lost. Renew him and restore him to You in Jesus name AMEN and AMEN!
Lord help me find someone else to show your grace.
We are an extension of God. We were sent on this earth to show forth His glory, and to please Him. Since we were made in His Image and likeness we have to be like Him. He have graced us with His empowerment to achieve, accomplish, and create. Let us extend the grace of God to others so they also can also be partakers of His Majesty.
ReplyDeleteThe Hen and Chicks" theory brings back childhood memories. I guess am taking this a little left field. My grandparents Elder and Sister Caton, get my gratitude and appreciation for planting the seed by raising and teaching me to know and serve God my Father, and always reminding me of the work that Jesus Christ did for us at Calvary. My Mom and Dad, Bishop and Sister Eudovique, watered the garden.
ReplyDeleteI endeavor to always share the love of God, first, with my children and grandchildren, then with everyone else that I meet. I know that our busy lives sometimes make us miss the opportunity to extend God's Grace to others. However, if we make the effort, it will be greatly rewarded. We might not be the one to sow the seed, but we can water the hearts of others by our words of encouragement, a prayer, a smile, a hand-up, and sometimes a hand-out.
Father use us at your leisure to fulfill the purpose of your Kingdom. We surrender!
