THOUGHTFUL PHILOSOPHY

DO FOR DO

Matthew 7:12 (KJV)
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets

This scripture have often been used when feelings are hurt  by someone else or even at times when wishing for evil happenings to others. It's a "Do for Do" philosophy.  For example when we have asked for help or been wronged we would perhaps say, "they will need my help one day".  "they will get old one day too" or "they will get paid back" etc..  and when something happens to that individual they will respond by quoting the scripture.

TODAY'S TOPIC:  VIEW FROM ANOTHER ANGLE

When the scripture is viewed from another angle it will call for a different approach.  Let's look at the TLB version....

“Do for others what you want them to do for you."

Are you going....... Hmmnnn???

I hope you are.  That version certainly calls for a new look at our relationship with others.  Not just our immediate family and friends but our relationship with our community and our world.

It calls for an approach that makes you act out your expectation of others.

Are you ready to do what you want others to do for you or are you going to continue to sit back and wait for something to be done to someone who has hurt or wronged you?  Let's talk...

  • Think about something you desire to be done to you and do it for someone else.
    • Waiting for someone to visit you? Visit someone
    • Waiting for someone to call you?  Call them
    • Want someone to help you with a chore? How about doing something for someone.
    • Other desires? - Do it for Others
  • Think about a group or community outreach that need your help, join or volunteer to assist with some of their services
    • An orphanage or children's home
    • A non-profit group or organization
    • A homeless shelter
    • School
    • Nursing Home or Hospital (outpatient etc)
    • Your own community or area
    • Can you think of any other?

Much can be said about the subject.  But today, this thoughtful philosophy when applied with the true meaning of scripture and viewed from a different angle will be approached with the attitude to...

DO FOR OTHERS AS YOU EXPECT THEM TO DO FOR YOU!

Remember, don't point the finger in the reverse expecting bad for wrong done, but, it's "WHATEVER" that you want men to do to you, that is what you must do to and for them.  Make the first move and keep that philosophy that everything you do is an expectation of what you expect from others.  Be more considerate, more loving, more forgiving, more merciful, more giving..... Life is sowing and reaping - You shall reap what you sow!
Sow seeds of kindness, give and it shall be given unto you.  Build relationships and serve your world and community.

Keep the Faith!
