STAND IN LIBERTY

YOUR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY

Let's take a look at the definitions:

FREEDOM:

  1. The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
  2. Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government.
  3. The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.
LIBERTY:
  1. The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.
  2. The power or scope to act as one pleases.
Freedom gives you the right to act or speak in an environment absent from subjection to slavery or imprisonment.

Liberty is your freedom to act and or live free.  Note, however, there are still conditions and or limits to its operation.

Not walking in accordance of either can enslave you if you refuse to operate in every aspect, for you can easily be a prisoner or subjected to being dominated again.

TODAY'S FOCUS:   THE LIFE OF FREEDOM REMOVES THE YOKE OF BONDAGE

Let's take a deeper look into the meanings and take note of what your freedom and liberty actually means from a point of scripture:

Galatians 5:1 (KJV)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

What we are gaining from the scripture is that your freedom came from Christ so, therefore, you must stand in the liberty of your freedom you have in Christ.  While you have the liberty and pleasure to act as you please it must be within the boundaries of what is authorized to you from the one who has made you free.  You cannot be ruled or influenced by any other source.

For example: As a citizen of the United States, you have the freedom of speech, religion, right to vote and other inalienable rights.  However, that does not give you the liberty to speak disruptively or disturb the peace or live in disharmony with others.  You can violate your freedom by riots, religious sabotage or illegal voting. You may suffer penalties under  the law and or end up in prison.

Similarly your liberty in Christ does not give you the freedom to live as you please under the same influence or control you were before you came to Him.  If that is the case then you should have remained under his ruling.  Your freedom comes from a place for you to experience life- walking as a free person enjoying the blessings and the promises of an abundant life through our Savior and King.  So today, walk in your freedom and liberty, and do not go back to the habits and life of your former life in which you were enslaved.  Ask yourself....

How free is your life?
What were some of the things that had you in bondage?
In what way are you being entangled again?

Remember, don't compromise your freedom and liberty. The MSG version states that Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.  Don't be entangled again in the things that caused your slavery in the first place.  You are set free to be free.

God Bless you and Keep the Faith!
